This is important! To: fallbrook64@classannual.com Date: Tuesday, October 14, 2008, 9:52 AM Hello everyone, and I hope "everyone" means plenty of us this time: Something wonderful! (Starts out slow here, with a little historical background, but I hope you'll trust me.) So, there's an organization called the California Educational Theater Association that eyeballs what's going on all over the state in the way of dramatic productions from the elementary school level all the way to the university level. (Be remembering this.) And then, these probably extremely picky people in the CETA (you know the type-- natter natter natter over details, and nothing's quite sublime enough to make them gasp, I'll just bet), so these fuss pots choose one person (remember this too) from the entire state of California to honor as the Theater Educator of the Year. So who is it this time, you are doubtless wondering with an urgency as relentless as the desire to get at that really serious mosquito bite? Our very own dear darling Doug! Yes, that's right! Douglas Smith! He's the one! In the whole state, out of everybody-- from the fellow in Radec who directed his kindergarten class's production of Hedda Gabler (if there is such a person), to the woman at Celestial Mind Ramp University and Driving School who did Oklahoma Meets the Planet of the Apes with a cast of graduate students in the Engineering department (I'm not entirely certain this actually took place either)-- out of absolutely every teacher of theater in the bear flag state, Doug is the man. We don't actually fly to San Francisco to see him crowned on 18 Octover, but... He's doing Shakespeare's The Tempest in November. We can go see it! Let's gather ourselves up and be there, don't you think? We'll pump Doug and Bobbi for the details of time and place. (Bobbie, Bobbi-- I am at conniption level because I'm not sure about which it is, so Roberta, break it to me gently, as simultaneously I apologize for my limping lobe.) Two weekends and numerous performances to choose from. Which one works best for the mob of us that I do hope will converge? The first weekend could be good from Doug's vantage-- providing audience for the performances that might be less attended because the roar of enthusiasm hasn't had time to proliferate, etcetera et cetera et cetera. See what I mean.? This is something Really Good. Libby Elizabeth Knox Pierce And a P.S. I've seen Doug act. And here I do not refer to the senior play, justifiable as is my fond memory of his precocious representation of the non-introverted Russian balletomane. No, I saw Doug at UCLA doing the kind of theater that is not one bit funny, on purpose. He was awe inspiring. Yes, yes, I realize that unhappy word is now utterly ruined, but it wasn't ruined yet when he inspired my personal awe, so please attribute retroactive freshness to my comment if you can. And as for funny, well, of course he's magnificently that. So there's my opinion for free. And just who do I think I am, to have such robust opinions, anyway? Well, granted my own theatrical career consists of playing the maid-- in two entirely separate productions, I want to make clear-- I am far more persnickety even than those people in the California Educational Theater Association, and if I think Dough is majestic, he very probably is. _______________________________________________ Fallbrook64 mailing list Fallbrook64@classannual.com http://classannual.com/mailman/listinfo/fallbrook64 Our Web Site - http://www.classannual.com:8080/fallbrook/ Please donate - http://www.classannual.com/users/0000001/stories/2006/08/02/whyShouldWeDonate.html _______________________________________________ Fallbrook64 mailing list Fallbrook64@classannual.com http://classannual.com/mailman/listinfo/fallbrook64 Our Web Site - http://www.classannual.com:8080/fallbrook/ Please donate - http://www.classannual.com/users/0000001/stories/2006/08/02/whyShouldWeDonate.html From gogoncatz at aol.com Wed Nov 5 15:04:55 2008 From: gogoncatz at aol.com (gogoncatz@aol.com) Date: Wed Nov 5 15:05:14 2008 Subject: [Fallbrook64] The Request Update - One month, and counting. Hello,? ? This email is going to all classes. All classes are being treated exactly the same as any other class.? ? One month ago, September 19th, I sent an email requesting donation help to reach $2997.? ? So far, from all the classes, containing 450 people in all the email lists, 49 people have donated money in amounts ranging from $18 to $250. The total donations have reached $2718. Pretty good for a month, I think. ... Thank you! But still, just a little shy of the goal $2997. ...? ? I did say I would not keep a list, but then I thought about it, and decided to keep a list so that I could send personal thank you letters to those that donated. And then I thought I might do something else with the Thank You letters. So. ... I am going to send everyone that donated some small prints of these two images. ...? ? http://www.classannual.com/php/gallery/20071029SunriseSunse/20050216_IMG_999905_combo? http://www.classannual.com/php/gallery/20050911ooohBoy/IMG_1429_1? ? And for a drawing, I have also printed both these images as 12"x18" prints.? ? At the end of November, I will have a friend draw names off the donators list out of a hat, and I will send those images, one image each, to the first two names drawn out of the hat.? ? Mailing address for check donations.? Jack Foster Mancilla? 3462 Mount Everest Blvd.? San Diego, CA, 92111? ? Donation page for donations through PayPal:? http://www.classannual.com/users/0000001/stories/2006/08/02/whyShouldWeDonate.html? ? On an Advertising note:? Jan made a suggestion at the Pecan Tree Pumpkin Picnic that there be a place on the website for our business cards as advertisement amongst ourselves. ... A place to sell business card space, so that we could deduct the advertisement expense on our taxes. ...? ? I thought we could make a separate page for "Business Candy" in order to keep things where they could be found. ... I also thought It could be two different pages. ... One page with business cards, and an alphabetically listed page with dual listings for business types and personal names, so that we could patronize our friends, if we wanted.? ? So... What would be a good price for three listings in our Business Candy section? It would include Business Card Images, in the order submitted on one page. And in a second page there would be a dual listing of, Personal name then business name, and Business name plus personal name?? ? Jack? _______________________________________________? Fallbrook's local paper. Someone looked familiar and it was Gary Vix (class of 61) presenting "The Jackie Vix Award" for the Outstanding Senior Girl for the Class of 2009. ?How wonderful that her life is still being Honored. I can still see her face and hear her laugh.? I can not quit crying. Gary had stopped by Libby's pumpkin picnic and let us look at Jackie's senior yearbook and gave me my gift.(64 yearbook) You are all very special to me?? Love Jeannie Harrison Every woman should have one friend who always makes her laugh and one who lets her cry.
