Message-ID: <603175.25840.qm@web57802.mail.re3.yahoo.com> Dear Fallbrook Warrior Friends, A short summary: I now have four life treating afflictions. All are under control and reduced to inconveniences. With vigilance and care, I should live as long as anyone. I had a very diverse, interesting, and often exciting career as a design engineer. I did the "impossible" more than twenty times, things senior engineers said couldn't be done, or our competitors were never able to do, or things IBM's finest tried to prevent their competitors (me) from doing. I was a top engineer in the Silicon Valley and in San Diego. I was among the highest paid engineers. . . I have quit full time employment but continue part time as an engineer designing what and when I want. Over the decades, I have conceived several lucrative products of my own that I would like to design and produce. My son has a great idea for a product that will soon get my effort. The projects I am "working" on now are even more exciting than past projects, much more. . . My favorite hobby/avocation is writing. I travel often in a comfortable van conversion. I am writing this summary in my van office on my Mac laptop computer. It is carefree freedom in the first degree. My lifetime driving record is quite good. A few minor tickets, one for going too slow on a unfamiliar freeway trying to figure out which way to go. I fought a few other tickets and won all. None were my fault. Yes, even a few "accidents." One car was absolutely totaled! It was a BRAN-NEW car driven by a bran-new driver; he hadn't even received his permanent driver's license yet. The car hadn't received its permanent license plate either, and it never would, because it was dead. Oh no, no, none of the accidents were my fault either, and there were never any serious injuries. . . I tell you this in honor of my driving instructor Mr. Gary Wise. It is also in honor of Gary that I told you about my career, for it was him who first excited my interest in science. He started my success snowball rolling. I graduated college summa cum laude (highest academic honors). In two of the six years it took me to get a four year Electronics Engineering degree, I did better than straight "A"s: I made NO mistakes on homework or on tests!! . . I learned my make no mistakes habit in Gary's class; spelling mistakes of scientific names were counted as wrong. Do you remember? I got most of them right. He was one of my favorite teachers ever. I look forward to seeing him again. But with vigilance and care, not for several more decades!! Thinking of all of you, Don (AKA: AW the Aging Warrior) Copyright Don Dence 2007, all rights reserved. PS: In adult writing class, I was taught to copyright everything. --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell? Check outnew cars at Yahoo! Autos.
